Haik Kazazyan is one of the leading violinists of our time, whose mastery and expressiveness have been acclaimed on the world’s major stages.
He has performed with orchestras including the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland (RTE), State Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E. Svetlanov, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, among many others.
Haik has appeared under the baton of conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Teodor Currentzis, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Andrew Litton, Yuri Bashmet, Alexander Liebreich, Yuri Simonov, Alexander Lazarev, Constantine Orbelian, Jonathan Darlington, Ricardo Averbach, Alan Buribayev, Jac van Steen, David Brophy, Pavel Kogan, Alexander Sladkovsky, Alexander Polianichko, Sergey Smbatyan, Vladimir Ziva, and Gianluca Marcianò.
As a chamber musician, his partners have included Denis Matsuev, Freddy Kempf, Eliso Virsaladze, Alexei Lubimov, Natalia Gutman, Alexei Kobrin, Alexander Kniazev, Rem Urasin, Pavel Vernikov, Gordan Nikolitch, Boris Brovtsyn, Alexander Rudin, Alexander Buzlov, Eva Gevorgyan, Sergey Antonov, Boris Andrianov, Ekaterina Mechetina, among many others.
He has appeared at Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium, New York), the Berlin Philharmonie, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Usher Hall in Edinburgh, the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, Théâtre du Châtelet and Salle Gaveau in Paris, as well as the Great Hall of the St Petersburg Philharmonia.
Haik is a regular guest at festivals including Verbier, Aspen, Sion, Tongyeong, the Arts Square Festival in St Petersburg, and the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. His performances have been broadcast on Mezzo, Medici.tv, TV Kultura (Russia), Brussels TV, as well as BBC Radio in London and Polish Radio.
Haik Kazazyan is a prizewinner of many prestigious international competitions, such as the Classic Violin Olympus (Grand Prix), George Enescu International Competition (1st prize), Marguerite Long–Jacques Thibaud International Competition (3rd prize & Public prize ), International Tchaikovsky Competition ( 3rd prize), Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition ( 3rd prize), and the Isang Yun International Competition (1st prize & Gold Medal ).
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Haik received his first violin lessons at the Sayat-Nova Music School with Professor Levon Zoryan. He continued his education in Moscow with Professor Eduard Grach and chamber music studies with Alexander Bonduriansky at the Gnessin Special Music School and later at the Moscow State Conservatory.
He subsequently studied in London at the Royal College of Music in the class of Professor Itzhak Rashkovsky and chamber music under Levon Chilingirian.
Haik has also participated in masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz, Ida Haendel, Pamela Frank, Boris Kuschnir, among other distinguished musicians.
